June 2013

Hello Readers,

Yankalilla regional News June 2013It is certainly starting to get a bit cold and wet of late, hopefully you are all rugged up by the fire. First of all, we have another batch of Leafy Sea Dragon Festival reviews and reports over the next few pages. It seemed to all go extremely well and was embraced by the local community and well attended by visitors to the area as well. In a couple of years we can look forward to doing it all again!

For those of us who are looking for the next thing to do, in June there is always the Sea & Vines Festival at McLaren Vale. See page 6 for details on that one.

Other coming events include the Books & Words Group on page 11, the Yankalilla & District Over 50’s Club on page 25 and the Natural Resource Centre on page 35.

There are also a variety of Council supported functions, educational programs and activities in which to get involved in for young, old, business people and everyone in between. See The Loop section - in the centre spread where it likes to hang out - for more on these and other news from Yankalilla Council.

Hello Readers,May2012

The Leafy Sea Dragon Festival certainly livened up the place during April. We trust you all got out there for a look around and sampled the cuisine, investigated the various arts and crafts or spent time being entertained! You can do it all again in two years’ time. Congratulations to the many people and organisations involved in making this part of the Fleurieu the ‘place to be.’

Letters to the editor caused a stir last month and the Lions have roared a response in this issue. The Christ Church at Yankalilla has had its bell tower removed and restored before being reinstated where it belongs. The church is sporting a nice new paint job too.

The local farmers had a ‘meet the council’ session and there was much information exchanged between drinks and nibbles!

Red Shield door knock appeal is coming soon and the Salvo’s are looking for volunteer collectors on page 35.Sonic Bomb

The Library is looking for old photos to display as part of the SA History Festival this month. See page 7.

Have you got missing super? Apparently there is lots around and the government wants to give it
back to you. See page 13 if you think you could be lucky.
